Our first DIY felt workshop!

It was a good day. We started putting the things we prepared for the felt workshop the night before. We were so thrilled and was going "hopefully everything will go smoothly the next day" and then going what-ifs! Everything went as planned (thank god) and our wonderful participants were very cool and attentive, totally a different experience from teaching the kids at TKPS. I must say that teaching adults are way easier ;p We will definitely have more workshops in future. Its so fun to find like-minded people in the workshop and to share their experiences with us! Yey, support handmade!

So these are pictures we took during the workshop.

Ps: And we even got the chance to taste the heavenly red velvet made by Shafiah, from Bebebows. It was something that i could not resist from eating just one cupcake! I have to stress on it again on how delicious it was! Loveeee it!

How to make felt flowers for hair accessories?

I am on a mission to create an instruction booklet for the ladies/mothers or anyone who wants to learn how to make felt flowers. As discussed and agreed, we will be working closely with Bebebows.com for the training workshops at a fee.

What will be in the workshop?

Felt Flower Workshop

Objective

Felt flower uses are fun and endless. These felt flowers can be used for:

• any occasions from weddings to everyday wear.
• making a bouquet of flowers for indoor accents.
• attaching to crochet or cloth hat, fit for baby through adults.
• fabulous looking brooch pins on shawls and as clothing embellishments.
• dressing up your favourite handbag.
• shoe clips: dressing up your plain looking pump shoes.
• making your own fav flower ring.
• a gift topper.
• turning your passion of crafts into a business. 
• Well, the possibilities can be endless - just use your imagination okie! ;) 

Materials

Basic supplies provided in the starter kit for each participant:
 
Rolls of Felt - 5 colours (red, green, blue, pink, yellow)**
Fabric Glue
20 random mix of buttons
3 headbands
10 alligator clips
Sewing kit
Instruction Booklet
Templates of 5 different flower designs
**Colors of felt may change depending on availability

Outline of Workshop (2.5 hours)

1) Introduction to flower making
Brief of contents of started kit

2) How to make a Loopy Mum flower (30mins)
Looks like a chrysanthemum flower. Instead of petals, the flower is made of loops of felt,  like a pom-pom
Embellish with leaves and buttons or pearls.

3) How to make a Rolled Rose (30mins)
A rolled rose is a very simple flower yet most popular.
2 variations: Plain or scalloped

4) How to make a Geranium  (30 mins)
Lusciously layered flower that looks simply yet elegant.
Variations of petals and embellishments

5) How to make a Plumeria (30 mins)
Learn to make a double or triple layered petals to form these fun, yet classic flower

6) How to make a Dahlia (30mins)
Dahlia is perceived as a ‘complicated’ and plentiful flower. With the use of our templates and tips, master the make of this flower with ease for beginners.
Dahlia comes in 2, 3 or 4 layers.

7) How to attach flower to headband/clips/brooch pin (10mins)
Learn the tips and tricks of attaching flowers to clips or headbands

These instructions alone valued at $69 each; total starter kit is worth about $120. In addition, participants can expect to gain insightful tips and tactics to create their first felt flower.
